Goodbye Flickr, Hello Ello

social media

I deleted my Flickr account today.  I haven’t used it in months.  Over the years I have tried to get into Flickr, because I think I ought to use it, but I really can’t stand it.  I don’t have any specific criticisms for the site, it’s just that I really don’t like using it.  Not only did I hate uploading images to it, I didn’t like looking at other people’s images either.

On the other hand, I am gonna give Ello a go.  It’s a beautiful looking service that seems, at least for now, dominated by creatives and unpolluted by advertising.  If you’re interested, come find me: https://ello.co/jjsommer.

UPDATE: As of January 31st, I decided to leave Ello.  It too seemed to be a chore, and I am no longer interested in social media as a chore.

All images taken with a Pentex K1000 using Fuji Superia 400 film, developed and processed by Downtown Camera in Toronto.

I am a film photographer based in Prince Edward County. I make images of people, places, and things - you know, nouns.
