On social media, I rarely comment on the work of others. I want to, but I don’t. The biggest reason is I can never think of anything witty to say. As I think of comments to make, my mind immediately generates a negative dialogue. “Don’t write that,” my mind says, it’s too obvious, inane, fanboy-ish, or sounds insincere – even when coming from a place of sincerity.
I feel comments on social media shouldn’t be a simple “attaboy”. They should be a hook for a dialogue, however brief. I am going to challenge myself to post at least one quality comment a day on social media regarding someone’s work.
